Ok, this was my first GG Backpack.
Pros= Having the waterproof pocket on top of the load instead of at the top-front is better. The straps are the durable foam type- they don't lose any shape with wear. Top load compartment is nice and none of their other backpacks have this. Also, the dedicated Laptop compartment is a plus, I pull my laptop in and out a lot and don't have to push anything aside to get to it- I just unzip and pull it out.
Cons= The inside lining of the shoulder straps will wear away with use. The foam will remain intact but they should reinforce this area better. Also, the zipper on the top- because it goes in a rectangular pattern, will start to not work over time. The front storage compartment has a long, lengthwise, zipper which is nice but the compartments content will all fall to the bottom- they should've made the inside with 2 compartments to keep the loads equal. I love this bag above all others!
I use it to carry my video gear, a 6 lb HD camera and all the crap I need to shoot out in the middle of nowhere, food etc plus a water reservoir. Awesome!
The reservoir with tube fits perfectly in the split back opening. The top compartment, with U shaped zipper is padded and I can slip my camera in and out fairly easily, - and I'm confident it won't get wet. (I added a 1 inch piece of stiff foam board at the bottom for extra protection for the camera lens) it's comfortable! even with an additional 8 lb tripod bungied to the back! Perfect for both hike and bike! thanks GG! (Posted on 4/26/2016)
